Jay Leno Hospitalized

Jay Leno Hospitalized, Giving NBC a Heart Attack. Host Jay Leno has checked himself into the hospital, and NBC is airing a rerun instead of the planned lineup featuring actor Ryan Reynolds.

Much rides on Leno' shoulders. NBC is saving millions by moving Leno's program into the 10 p.m. slot later this year, sparing it from ordering up expensive primetime dramas. It's hoping, too, that Leno will provide a reliable lead-in to the 11 p.m. news hour at NBC's troubled local stations, which have been hit hard by the drought in advertising by car dealerships.

Leno's unexplained ailment — an NBC flack dismissed one rumor of food poisoning — may be minor; his fans will surely wish him a quick recovery. As will executives. When Leno sneezes, the network catches a cold.

Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston is countersuing her stepmother for $1.6 million. The Grammy-winning singer claims Barbara Houston owes her the money for failing to make mortgage, tax, and condo association payments for the Fort Lee condominium where she has lived since 1987.

Her stepmother initiated the legal tussle last year when she claimed the 45-year-old singer, who issued the condo mortgage loan, improperly kept proceeds from John Houston's $1 million insurance policy after his 2003 death.

Whitney Houston's attorney says the 47-year-old stepmother is not a poor, elderly widow and that Whitney Houston should not have to subsidize her living expenses. But Barbara Houston's lawyer says there was a verbal understanding that the condo belonged to his client.

Bruce Springsteen is named "other man" in divorce case

Update Below- 3Hrs. Ago

Home wrecker?
Bruce Springsteen a home wrecker? Businessman Arthur J. Kelly named the Jersey rock 'n' roller as the reason for the breakup of his 17-year marriage to Ann C. Kelly, according to a complaint filed in Superior Court in Monmouth County last month.

Arthur Kelly alleged his estranged wife, who lives in Long Branch, "has committed adultery with one Bruce Springsteen, who resides in Rumson, N.J., and Colts Neck, N.J., at various times and places too numerous to mention."

Arthur Kelly is seeking joint custody of the couple's two daughters, 13 and 10, and wants his soon-to-be ex to pay child support as well as a portion of the girls' college education, insurance and extracurricular activities and summer camp costs.

This is not the first time Springsteen, who has been married to E-Street Band member Patti Scialfa for 17 years, has been the subject of alleged infidelity. In 2006, published reports claimed he and Scialfa were splitting because of an affair he had with a 9/11 widow he met in 2001 at a television benefit show. He denied that report in a statement on his Web site -- space he usually avoids using for personal information.
Update: 'I am not a Home wrecker!"
Bruce Springsteen has spoken out about being named the other man in a New Jersey man's divorce filing, denying—just as he did when the first round of affair allegations popped up three years ago—any infidelity against his wife of nearly two decades, Patti Scialfa.

A rep for the "Thunder Road" rocker told the New Jersey Star-Ledger that the singer stands by a statement he issued on his website in August 2006.

"Patti and I have been together for 18 years—the best 18 years of my life," he wrote then—and reiterates now. "We have built a beautiful family we love and want to protect and our commitment to one another remains as strong as the day we were married."

Kal Penn Leaps from House to White House

First there was surprise suicide-by-shotgun. Now comes the salary cut – a big one. And believe it or not, TV's House doc Kal Penn asked for it.

The actor, whose character Dr. Lawrence Kutner shot himself dead in this week's episode, is wrapping up Hollywood life for a job at the White House, where annual salaries for the most senior of staffers (like, the White House Chief of Staff, for example), top out at around $172,000 – enviable, but still a fraction of what most TV actors get per episode.

"There's not a lot of financial reward in these jobs," Penn, 31, whose title will be Associate Director in the Office of Public Liaison ("basically the front door of the White House," he says), told Entertainment Weekly. "But obviously, the opportunity to serve in a capacity like this is an incredible honor."

Roland Martin: New CNN Host

As Martin speaks, in great cascades of words that flow by like a rushing river, it is clear this is no garden-variety pundit. He is African American, the first to host a prime-time cable news program since Alan Keyes's brief run on MSNBC seven years ago. He is ubiquitous, holding forth in venues as varied as morning radio, a syndicated column, an Essence magazine blog and a forthcoming book. And he is a take-charge family man, insisting that four nieces who he felt had a poor home environment move in with him and his wife, an ordained minister.

Martin is filling in for Campbell Brown, whose second child is due this week, and after her two-month leave he will anchor a CNN nighttime program on the weekend. If the past is any guide, his ambitions are larger than that. When a CNN recruiter first asked him to appear on a program in 2002, Martin recalls responding: "You might think this is an arrogant statement, but you book me one time, trust me, you're going to book me again."

CNN President Jon Klein says Martin "had a quality about him that made you stop and listen to what he had to say. I think it's because he's a professional journalist wrapped in a bundle of energy. . . . He lets you know how much he cares."

Still, the 40-year-old Houston native might seem an odd choice to host Brown's "No Bias, No Bull." During the campaign, CNN used him as a liberal commentator who backed Barack Obama, regularly pairing him with a conservative. But Martin balks at being pigeonholed.

"When you create these boxes, frankly, people only look at the boxes," he says. "We have to open up our boxes and realize there are actually people out there who refuse to be driven by ideology or party labels." Martin says he isn't a party-line liberal. He is opposed to abortion and backs the death penalty. He criticized the Obama administration for opposing school vouchers for poor students. He cast his first presidential vote for George H.W. Bush. Klein says Martin's left-leaning stance is not a problem because "now we're asking him not to express his point of view but to host interesting conversations among a range of people."

President Obama Gives Queen of England an iPod

President Barack Obama gifted the Queen of England with an iPod during his visit to Buckingham Palace today.

The Apple music player was loaded with video footage and photographs from her 2007 trip to the U.S., London's Daily Telegraph reports.

(The paper says the queen already has an iPod, though -- a 6 GB Mini she bought in 2005 at Prince Andrew's suggestion.)

The Queen, in turn, gave the president a silver-framed photograph of herself, the standard present for visiting dignitaries.

The Obamas' gift-giving was closely monitored in the UK after the couple came under fire for giving England's prime minister a set of American movie DVDs that weren't formatted for European players during his White House visit earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Michelle changed out of the affordable J.Crew outfit -- a crystal-studded cardigan that's already sold out at the chain, and a mint green pencil skirt -- she wore for breakfast with Prime Minster Gordon Brown's wife earlier today. She was spotted with the queen in a demure Azzedine Alaia cardigan, pearls and full Isabel Toledo skirt with tulle.

The first lady has also been spotted wearing an ivory Thakoon jacket and chartreuse Jason Wu dress since touching down in London late last night. The Obamas are visiting five countries in eight days as part of the G-20 Economic Summit.

Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel Expecting First Child

After 13 years together, Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel are expecting their first baby, their rep exclusively confirms to Usmagazine.com. The baby is due later this year.

The Private Practice star, 38, and the Tony award-winning actress, 37, first met on the original 1996 Broadway production of Rent in NYC. After seven years of dating, they got married in January 2003.

Menzel hinted to Us last January that once she finished promoting her third solo album, I Stand, she would consider starting a family with Diggs.

"It's definitely in the plans," she told Us. "I'll settle down and start popping out some babies."
She said Diggs has been ready for kids since "the day I met him."

"He wouldn't talk about marriage, but he'd talk about me having his children," she told Us. "He's always wanted kids. He grew up with four younger brothers and sisters, so he's very comfortable around children."
